CAUTION REQUIRED

PURCHASING SUN GLASSES WARNING ISSUED From- time to time the general public is warned against the danger in purchasing inferior quality sun glasses which are liable to have detrimental effects on the eyesight. When choosing a pair of sun glasses or anti-glare type glasses the utmost care must be exercised. It has been repeatedly stated that certain types of glasses being sold to the public are definitely injurious to the eyes. It is most imperative that people who buy sun or antiglare glasses should make sure that they are suitable and unlikely to damage the eyes. It has been proved that some dark glasses permit ultraviolet rays to penetrated to the eyes with extremely serious consequences. In the United States a nationwide campaign has been launched to warn the public of the danger. The Health Department in Australia will initiate a similar campaign in New South Wales, in the near future. Many people who have damaged their eyes through using the inferior glasses now have to wear glasses permanently. This could have been avoided in nine cases out of ten if caution and care had been exercised when purchasing sun or anti-glare glasses. When purchasing glasses of this type it is best if you are at all doubtful to seek the advice of a chemist or other qualified person.
