RAILWAYMEN’S MEALS • WITH MUSIC Cultural and recreational aids to production are being employed at the Polish Government railway engine factory in Wroclaw (Breslau). Polish woi’kers at this factory, called Pa-Fa-Wag, have been housed in three modern workers’ settlements. Nine stores supply the settlements with market commodities at fixed low prices. At mealtimes, the rail engineers go to a modern cafe, to relax to the strains of a first-class orchestra.
At night, workers can attend theatrical and musical society lectures, or go to the settlements’ library, which has 15,000 volumes. Sports clubs have also been formed to provide all kinds of recreation for the workers. Success of this cultural and recreational amenities, policy is reflected in constantly rising production.
