RACING NEWS & VIEWS

A Probable Sale Notwithstanding the fact that a few days ago Mr A. J. Court, of Auckland, refused £IO,OOO for the Foxbridge colt, Majesty, it is now reported that a sale may be registered as the owner is willing to accept a reasonable offer above this sum.

An Interesting Find A recent find in racing circles is the Hawke’s Bay trained Flare Path who won two events at Wanganui in real racehorse style. He is a three year old of very strong conformation with a pedigree of highly approved lines, which reads: By Kincardine (sire of Kindergarten) from Dancing Flame by Lackham—Atruda by Jocular—Ernesgarde by Charlemagne from Watershoot by Royal Artillery—Nenuptar by Apremont from Waterspoute by Traducer. In the Boom Beau le Havre, after competing in the Awapuni Gold Cup, is to be brought north to Ellerslie to race at the Auckland Easter fixture. It will doubtless interest sportsmen to learn that the Beau Repaire colt is not trained in the orthodox style, formerly all his track work is executed at not over three-quarter pace, and in the last eight weeks he has not been galloped against the watch on more than two occasions.

A Waikato Acquisition Mr H. D. Greenwood, of Christchurch, has sold his two year old filly Minton by Defaulter, to a Hamilton sportsman, and he will join G. Goulboro’s team at Te Rapa.

Resumed Work Master Ted, winner of three races last season, has again been put into

work at Ellerslie by F. G. MacManemin. Again a Winner After running unluckily at Trentham the imported colt, King Tissa, again got on the wining list at Wanganui. . When he meets Path Glare next month onlookers will see a pair of real gallopers. For the Big Jumps The Hawke’s Bay jumper, Skyhawk, a recent winner at Ellerslie, is to be prepared for steeplechase events. As a race away to the front customer, he will need to be considerably steadied down to have any chance of success over the big obstacles.
