PIPING AND DANCING
ACADEMY IN N.Z. A piping and dancing academy, the first organisation of its kind in the world, has been established in New Zealand, according to a statement made by the president of the New Zealand Piping and Dancing Association, Mr N. Cameron. Mr Cameron said that a standard of examinations had been set, and that it was hoped that the academy would be operating within six months. No standardisation of steps was to be considered by the academy, but a definite standard of techinque would be taken into consideration. Technique and steps would be viewed differently, but there would be no suppression of individuality in expression and execution.
Tests would be set and diplomas and letters granted by the academy, said Mr Cameron. The first of these tests would be conducted at Wellington, and others subsequently at various centres.
