The first Friday in Lent, which, will fall this year on February 21, is widely recognised by Christian, women of over 50 countries, representing many races, as a day set apart for prayer. Groups of women meet in many centres in New Zealand to make intercession for missionary work everywhere and as the day moves on across the world, groups in other lands take up the weapon of prayer. Whakatane ladies have arranged to hold the Day of Prayer this year in the Anglican Church—next Friday, commencing at 2.30. Representatives from the three local Churches will take' part.
