REUNION WITH HUSBAND CANADIAN GIRL’S EXPERIENCE Walking through the -darkened streets of Otley, Yorkshire, 24 hours after she had arrived in England, 19-year-old Canadian born Mary Woods bumped into a passer-by—it was her husband Leslie, whom she thought was 2000 miles away in Egypt. . The last time they had seen each other was when they .were married at St. John’s, Newfoundland 18 months ago. Two days beford she was told she could fly to Britain. She cabled her husband’s home: “Arriving tomorrow,” only to be told on arrival “Leslie' has been sent to the ’Middle East.” , Her informants did not know that 23-year-old Gunner Leslie Woods had been suddenly given demobilisation leave and at that moment was arriving at Dover—bound for home.
