WOMEN’S DIVISION

AWAKERI BRANCH FEBRUARY MEETING The momthly meeting of the Awakeri branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Awakeri Hall on the evening of February 11, Mrs Haultain presiding over a large attendance of members and visitor's.

Some of the members decided to form a class to take lessons from the drama tutor, Mrs Rutherfdrd, who is shortly coming to the district.

The evening meeting proved so popular that in future meetings will be held in the evening except in the cold winter months.

Arrangements were made for the next meeting which is to be an Open Evening with a show of flowers and Bring and Buy Stall.

Competition winners were as follows: Best flower, Mrs Haultain 1; Mrs Barr 2; Mrs Roberts 3'. Best fruit, Mrs Barr 1; Mrs Wilson 2; Mrs McGougan 3. Best vegetable, Mrs H. Jensen 1; Mrs Roberts 2; Mjss Wilson 3. Three peaches, Mrs Barr 1; Mrs Wilson 2. An enjoyable supper brought n pleasant evening to a close.
