IMMIGRANTS TO N.Z.

MR PEPPERCORN’S ARRIVAL 60 YEARS AGO Sixty years ago, after 120 days at sea, Mr A. E. Peppercorn, of Tauranga, arrived in New Zealand with his parents on the Hermione, a fullrigged ship of 1120 tons. On this trip, the Hermione, which inade 21 voyages to New Zealand from August 1881 to September 1899, brought 200 immigrants to the Dominion.

Captain Roberts made nine trips in the vessel and after her last voyage to New Zealand she was sold to Italy and sailed the seas until 1913 when she was broken up at Genoa.
