THE VISION SPLENDID

'Young men shall see visions And old men shall dream dreams.' A nation without vision Chained to material schemes History has proved, will come to naught And lose all for which it fought The spirit leaves the body When it draws its final breath; To be wholly carnal minded Denotes spiritual death. Our bodies are comparatively No more than clothes we wear Man cannot live by bread alone! He needs spiritual fare Which is supplied for good or ill According to the recipients will To pursue evil or follow good By so many creeds that cramp and bind And many ways that wind and wind But miss the way of being kind. Always to man and bird and beast For those who love themselves the

least Have love to spare to give to others And help all men to become brothers; Which was the vision and ideal Of Him who came world wounds to heal: To seek and save that whicn was lost Knowing but counting not the cost. Self-seeking is the road to hell Trodden alas too long and well By those who for material gains Make mechandise of others pains! No condemnations too severe For the warmonger and profiteer Responsible for the present f .:tate Of world confusion strife and hate. Their dreams of wealth may be realised But in God's sight and true men's eyes They richly deserve the dreadful fate Of those whose repentance comes too late.
