NEW SYSTEM ADOPTED

EXCHANGE OF NURSES The executive of the New Zealand Registered Nurses' Association has been in communication with nurses' associations overseas, with a view to organising an exchange system of nurses, says the December issue of the New Zealand Nursing Journal. This is on account of the large number of New Zealand nurses wishing to travel abroad. Prior to World War II such a system had been in operation between New Zealand and Australia. Information has been received that the Royal College of Nursing would be willing to organise such a scheme on behalf of English nurses who desire to visit New Zealand. New Zealand nurses who wish to participate in such an exchange should apply to the Dominion headquarters of the New Zealand Registered Nurses' Association for application forms and conditions of exchange. It is considered that for the purpose of exchange, the most suitable for selection are those holding junior sisters' or staff nurses' positions; that is, nurses who have been registered for approximately two to five years. Before making application, nurses must arrange with their hospital boards or other controlling authorities for the necessary recommendation. All hospital boards have been given details of the scheme.
