Bernborough’s Price
Last month it was reported that the purchase price for Bernborough was £93,000. It is now more authoritatively stated that the sum payable by Mr L. B. Mayer, the American picture magnate, was 250,000 dollars. Class Thoroughbreds Yasda, winner of the York Handicap at Trentham is by Coronach— Lady Chrosa. He was purchased at the National Sale by Mr M. Millar, of Palmerston North, in whose colours he races. A Suspension At the Wellington meeting G. Tattersall was suspended for a month, for allegedly not riding out Master Dash in the York Handicap. Keen observers at many meetings note cases of horses not being l’idden out but appai’ently racing officials are more concerned with well-backed candidates only. \ j A Wise Decision It has been decided to allow Demonic, winner of the Great Northern Foal Stakes at Ellerslie, to have an easy time for the l’est of the season. The decision appeal’s to be a wise one for the Defaulter colt will j have a better chance of properly furnishing than if over-raced as a two-year-old. May Make a Hurdler The Irish Lancer gelding, Lance Wing, who has done, most of his rac- I ing in Otago, but is now trained at I 1 Cambridge, competed in the Flying I Handicap at Thames.
