UNABLE TO GET TO JOB

NO PASSAGES AVAILABLE A sidelight on the present acute shortage of, shipping and the difficulty of securing passages overseas from Great Britain is provided by the following letter whicfc appears in a recent issue of the Daily Mail, London. The correspondent, whose' address is in Croydon, writes: — “After being demobbed from the Fleet Air Arm following six years* 1 service I was offered a very good, position in Australia. “To get there I am willing to pay or to work my passage. I have been, trying for four months, but am told V I haven’t a chance for at least 12 months.

1 “If I have to wait that long I may lose the job. It is maddening when one notices that variety artists, film people, M.P.’Sj. cricketers and cricketer’s brothers get priority.” J The letter is signed “Fed Up.”
