POTENTIAL SITES
BUILDING SUBDIVISIONS RIGHT-OF-WAY TO SECTIONS “I think it is high time we made provision to enable houses to he built upon the waste land at the rear of some of the long narrow sections in the Borough,” said the-Mayor (Mr B. S. Barry) at the Borough Council meeting last Monday evening.
He pointed out that under the Borough By-laws all sections must have a 40ft. frontage. For this reason there were dozens of deep sections with plenty of room for two and sometimes three houses on them. There were many in Goulstone Road where acres of first class building sites were land locked and could not be utilised for anything. He suggested that the right should be given section holders to make provision for a ten-foot right-of-way, giving access to a new section at the rear. This was permitted in most of the larger centres and would make a large number of new sections available for sale. It would go a long way towards relieving the present situation. The Council agreed that the Town Clerk should go into the matter and list up the number of sections likely to be affected and to report at next meeting.
