Dear Sir

OHOPE DEVELOPMENT

Sir, —I warmly agree with your recent suggestion that the settlement area at Ohope should be expanded. lam one of those disappointed because I was unable to find the accommodation I wanted at the beach, and so was forced to hire a tent, which at my age is not the best. From what I see of this beautiful beach, unless your suggestion of acquiring a mile-deep - belt of Native land is carried out, the settled part is doomed to extend in one long string of houses and baches towards the Ohiwa harbour, making it increasingly more difficult of access and ugly as a rising resort. I can picture the scene, otherwise when all the small hills fronting the beach have homes clustered at their foot, and when each pretty little vallejr has its own blind roadway giving a depth to the whole settlement. I warmly support the idea and can only hope that you have sufficient backing to have it carried out before I next visit your beautiful beach. Yours etc., ‘VISITOR.”
