MEAT COUPONS DONATED
£3OO WORTH FROM ONE MAN “MAGNIFICENT EFFORT” Recently a Wanganui man made a donation of £3OO worth of meat to Britain and in 16 days the 24,000 coupons required to cover the shipment were over-subscribed by local residents. “This has been a magnificent effort and definitely shows what can be done,” said the honorary secretary of the Wanganui Famine Emergency; Committee, Mr G. S. Partridge. The contribution, he said, came mainly from the city area, but country households are doing fairly well and it is hoped they will do even better in the new year. Wanganui last week was second out of the whole of New Zealand on a population basis, with 17,582 meat and 480 butter coupons collected.
