According to leading life-savers, they are:— Indifferent swimming ability; swimming while in poor health; exhaustion through swimming directly against currents; venturing too far out; tendency to panic in an emergency; weak heart; bathing alone;' bathing immediately after meals; swimming close to rocks; bathing after drinking alcoholic liquors. Competent life-savers give this advice:— Always bathe in the marked safety area; if you get into difficulties, the rescue signal is to hold one hand above the head; don’t give false alarms; "don’t struggle against a current—but swim diagonally to the shore;-don’t swim immediately after meals; never bathe when you are cold or chilly; don’t swim too far out; don’t bathe alone.
