Then And Now
In December, 1941, when the Japanese threat to New Zealand appeared, “tin helmets” were at a premium. There were insufficient to issue to the regular army, and it was many months later before the home forces, the Home Guard and the E.P.S. were supplied. In December, 1946, they are being sold to the public and used as toys and for pot plants and buckets.
