DOES COME HOME, SOME TIME
Arthur Pacific, 53, returned to his home in Paterson (New Jersey) recently nearly seven years after walking to the corner tavern for a few beers.
Pacific spent six years and eight months in Italian and German concentration camps. He met a few friends when he went to the corner tavern, and they started drinking heavily, finally ending up in New York. Pacific “passed out” during the bout, and found himself on a ship bound for Naples (Italy) when he recovered. Italian authorities gaoled him on suspicion of espionage when he reached Naples. Later, they transferred Pacific to the Belsen and Buchenwald concentration camps in Germany.
