SCOUT COMMISSIONER

NEW DOMINION APPOINTEE MR H. S. HILLS The Boy Scouts’ Association has announced the appointment of Mr H. Seddon Hills, of Lower Hutt, as the Dominion Headquarters Commissioner m New Zealand. Mr Hills was a Scoutmaster in 1909 and Chief Scoutmaster and District Secretary in the Bay of Plenty area during 1910-1911!, being actively''engaged in scouting in Taumarunui in later years. He was also Group Scoutmaster at Whangarei and subsequentlyDistrict Scoutmaster- and District Commissioner for that area: More recently he has been associated with the committee of the St. James Group, Lower Hutt, and in 1948 was appointed acting-County Commissioner for the Hutt Valley and Bays County during the absence on military service of the County Commissioner. He is an elected member of the Dominion Council of the Association, and was appointed Assistant Dominion Headquarters Commissioner in May of this year. In his new post, his duties will include general oversight of the administration of the Scout movement. Mr Hills is well known as the president of the Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A., and as a senior officer of the Public Works Departmnet.
