Outing For Cubs

The two Whakatane Cub Packs, and the local Rover Crew spent a delightful day last Saturday on Whale . Island and the Raurimas. The trip was made in the Harbour Board’s launch, and the excellent weather which prevailed made for perfect conditions. The morning was ■spent on the Whale, whilst in the afternoon, the Raurimas were visited. Exploring took up most of the time, and at the end of the day, a full muster of exhausted but happy boys boarded the launch for the return journey. A school of porpoises was obseiwed during the trip, and for some distance they accompanied the boat, providing an unusual experience for a number of the passengers. And by the way, we understand there was not a single case of sea-sickness!
