WEDDING BELLS
BRUERE—SHAW The marriage of a popular local couple was solemnised when Nancy Alison, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Shaw (Taneatua) was wedded to Desmond, son of Mr and Mrs G. Rruere (Napier) in the Anglican. Church, Taneatua, recently. The Rev. Drake was the officiating minister. Mrs. Sisam officiated at the organ. The Church had been effectively decorated in tones’ of pink and white, with bunches of flowers and with pink and white satin ribbons adorning the end of each pew. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a charmingly simple gown of ivory sheer. The long closely fitting bodice was buttoned with tiny buttons to the waist line and the sweetheart neckline was edged with a border of pleated silk net, the same trimming being used to edge the long sweeping train. The long embroidered veil which formed a second train was held to the head with a topknot of roses and carnations. She carried a bouquet of roses and carnations. The bride was attended by Miss Betty Goodrich and Miss Betty Shaw (sister of the bride). Both wore becoming frocks of pink lace and silk net. The long fitting bodices fashioned on lines similar to that of the bride’s were of lace while the very full skirts were of silk net. They wore shoulder length silk net veils which were secured to the head with charming coronet effect headdresses of pink ostrich feathers. They wore pink lace mittens and carried bouquets of pink carnations and blue delphiniums. The bridegroom was attended by Mr K. Allen and Mr W. Cassidy (Opotiki). The reception was held in the Taneatua Hall where Mr and Mrs Shaw received their guests assisted by Mr and Mrs Bruere.
Mrs Shaw wore a black suit with black hat and accessories and a shoulder spray of pink carnations and maidenhair. Mrs Bruere was in a tailored suit of grey with black hat and accessories with shoulder spray of pink carnations and delphiniums. The hall had been very effectively decorated and had occasional tables with bowls of flowers used to good effect. The stage had been adorned with flowers in massed effect.
The breakfast tables had tall silver vases filled with sweet peas fix pastel shades. The delicious wedding cake was made by the bride’s mother. The toast list was in the capable hands of the Rev. Drake. Most of the guests visited Mr and Mrs Shaw’s residence after the reception to view the presents which, were varied and beautiful. The bride travelled in a smart suit of blue trimmed with eyelet embroidery. She wore a black veil trimmed hat with black accesories. Mr and Mrs Bruere carried with them good wishes from all their friends for happiness and prosperity in their new home in Auckland. “*?S *&**”?&,
