Auckland Cup Riders Langue d’Or is to be ridden in the Auckland Cup by W. J. Broughton, Catterick Bridge by H. Wiggins, Thornbridge by A. C. Messervey and Foxwyn by R. E. Ireland. A Valuable Filly An offer of 3000 guineas was last week refused for Excellency the Southern owned filly by Salmagundi. The Jockey Premiership Up to date W. J. Broughton, who leads for the .jockey premiership this season has registered 30 wins. Bids For Bernborough Although it has been widely circulated that Bernborough is not for sale, it is now reported that Mr D. J. Davis, residing in America, and remembered as the owner of Phar Lap, is endeavouring to arrange for the purchase of Bernborough, with a view to adding to his Californian sthd. The Auckland Cup For the Auckland Cup of £6OOO there are 26 acceptors. A final payment of £ls is to be made on Boxing Day, so the number may then be slightly reduced. The present favourite division includes Longsword 8.13, Foxwyn and Signal Officer 8.10, Langue d’Or 8.7 and Catterick Bridge 8.7. Lord Barwon Lord Barwon, who is considered likely to show a return to form shortly, did not line up for the Flying Handicap at Te Awamutu. However, it is doubtful if he could have prevailed over Foxwyn, who is just now fighting fit. The colt remains in the Christmas Handicap on Boxing Day and Great Northern Derby to be decided on New Year’s Day, and his effort will be of great interest to many keen sportsmen.
