TE TEKO BRANCH
HALLO’EEN AFTERNOON
The Te Teko branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union closed its meeting for the year on a cheery note when seven of the members staged a “Hallo’een up to Date” party.
Mrs Pryor opened the meeting with the reading of the Creed and routine business was promptly despatched. Grateful acknowledgments of donations were received from the Leper Trust Board and the United Orphanages Council. The roll call “A Funny Story” brought forth much acclamation. Mrs Hallett’s contribution was the winner. Mesdames Newman, Carr, Sandilands, Hutton,' Goodwin, Cannell and Miss Linsell robed in the traditional garb then took charge of the afternoon. On the stage, which like the hall had been decorated with cutouts of black cats, pumpkins, birds etc. was a large cauldron. Vocal skits on local activities, Scottish readings and Mrs Newman’s rendering of Harry Lauder choruses delighted the audience, whilst Mrs Hutton’s clever make-up and pantomime drew loud applause. A raffle and bring and buy stall brought satisfactory returns and a special collection for the United Orphanages Appeal resulted in the donation of £3 to that deserving cause. , - * I The competition winners were as follows: Needlework and embroidery, Mrs C.
