CHILDREN’S PICNIC

SWIMMING CLUB ENTERTAINS Some sixty children of all ages had a glorious time at the Heads on Saturday afternoon, .when the Whakatane Swimming Club sponsored a picnic for their especial benefit. The weather was perfect for the occasion, and the programme was run through without a , hitch. The early part of the afternoon was given over to running races, tug o’ wars and novelty events, and after the serving of afternoon tea, advantage was taken of the incoming tide to'indulge in a ‘dip’. Altogether the whole function was a marked success, and credit is due to the club for the manner in which it was handled.
