WHAKATANE SPRING FAIR The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report having held their Supplementary Spring Station Cattle Fair at Whakatane on November 25. 1,000 head were offered and prices, particularly for fat stock, were well in accordance with those prevailing in other districts. Cattle came forward in firstclass condition and competitibn was keen from the strong representative attendance of outside buyers present. Store and young stock offered met with a readier market than has been the case this season. Prices realised were as under:— Fat bullocks £ls 10s to £l9 2s 6d; fat cows £lO to £l3 2s 6d; fat heifers £lO 2s 6d to £l4; store cows £7 to £9; 2-year heifers £5 to £8 ss; 2year steers £7 to £9; yearling steers £5 to £7 ss; yearling heifers £3 10s to £5. KEEN COMPETITION EDGECUMBE PIG SALE The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report on the Edgecumbe Pig Sale held v last as follows: 1 A good yarding of all classes of pigs ,were submitted to a full bench of buyers, and competition was keen. The prices obtained were: Heavy baconbrs £5 19s to £6 4s; others £5 10s to £5 18s; light baconers £4 18s to £5 8s; best buttermilk pigs to £4 11s; stores £2 5s to £2 14s; slips 36s to £2 2s; weaners 30s to 355.
