ULTIMATE SOCIALISM
Sir,—lt is amazing yet true that many people do not understand what is meant by the socialisation of the means of production, distribution and exchange. The means of production consists of all those things such as land, factories, machinery, capital etc. and labour by means of which anything is produced. The means of distribution comprise all those agencies; undertakings or businesses which distribute things 'to the people whether such things be produce, coal, petrol, clothing, boots 1 and shoes or any other commodity. The means of distribution does not mean merely the transportation of such things but mehns those businesses which sell these commodities, which in fact sell any com- 1 modity. The means of exchange comprises the whole of our oanking and monetary system. . ; ■
The Labour Party is pledged to a policy of the socialisation of the means of production—to the socialisation of the means of distribution and the socialisation of the means of exchange. This is ultimate socialism. Workers should clearly understand that their labour is part of the means of production and that, in order fully to socialise, the manpower control of labour will become inevitable. ' • Yours etc., H. HARRISON.
