FRIENDS OR FOES
Individuals and Nations find, Very often to their sorrow, Those apparently their friends today, Are enemies tomorrow. When interests are identical, The going’s generally good, Its fine to have a willing friend, To help one from the wood, But when the dreaded danger’s past, Friendships sky becomes o’ercast, With dark clouds of suspicious fear, Your friends are not what they appear. True and abiding friendship must Be founded firm, in perfect trust, Purged from every selfish aim, Through storm and sunshine e’er the same. The world today is charged with fear, That dark clouds gather overhead Will burst, and that a deluge red, Will remorslessly come down, And al that is worthwhile will drown. The Cosmopolitan God of greed, And all that is worthwhile will Should immediately be exposed, To obviate the threatened woes. To err is human, but love’s divine, A light that consistantly will shine, To guide humanity on'its way, To the glorious dawn of the Perfect Day. •H. SERGANT.
