The New Zealand Cup Riccarton track watchers are confident that last year’s Cup winner, Golden Souvenir, will make a bold bid to win the big two miles event this week, although so far no horse has won it twice.
Re-Commissioned The Revelation —Race Fox gelding, Revolte, purchased last year in Auckland by a Christchurch sportsman, has, after a lengthy spell, rejoined the Riccarton track workers. ITe is a capable galloper that is expected to be a payable proposition this season.
Resuming Racing Brown Derby, a member of R. Johnson’s Stratford team, is again carrying racing colours and is expected to make up for lost time occasioned by being placed on the schooling list.
A Neptune Colt The Neptune colt, Equator, trained by Fred McCabe, at Riccarton, is shaping into form and may be racing at the holiday meetings in the near future.
It Pays To Travel The Surview representative, Superb, was taken to the Whangarei meeting. Apparently the trip north was beneficial, for he won his Ellerslie engagement in better company. This is another instance showing it pays to travel to country fixtures.
