SWIMMING
CONTROL IN BAY
REORGANISING LOCAL CENTRE
The future control of swimming in the Bay of Plenty has been the subject of meetings, conferences and resolutions in recent months. The upshot of these negotiations is the decision to resuscitate the Bay of Plenty Centre next year, clubs in the meantime to remain under the jurisdiction of the South Auckland Centre.
To ascertain the feeling of Bay of Plenty swiming clubs, meetings were held at Te Puke on April 14, and at Rotorua on April 28 and September 15. At the last meeting, officers of the South Auckland Centre were present, as v/ell as delegates from the Rotorua, Whaka and Ohinemutu clubs.
It was agreed to function under he jurisdiction of the South Auck-
land Centre for the current season and to revive the Bay of Plenty Centre in the 1947-48 season, application to be made to the N.Z.A.S.A. for re-registration. The South Auckland Centre having intimated its approval, the following committee will administer the affairs of the Bay of Plenty Centre in the meantime: Mr H. L. Musgrave, chairman; Miss B. Evans, secretary; Mr H. Branch, treasurer; and Mr A. C. Garlick, handicappei’, with the chairman and one delegate from each club as a management committee.
The committee proposes to hold Bay of Plenty championships later in the season. An education officer is also required.
Clubs outside of Rotorua are entitled to appoint a resident delegate to act on their behalf this season. The Dominion senior championships will be held at Nelson on February 19-21. The junior and inter-
mediate championships will be hel at Invercargill on February 12-15
