Lady’s Bicycle Unclaimed

Nearly two years ago the Whakatane police discovered an abandoned bicycle (lady’s model) at Edgecumbe, on the 11/1/45 to be exact. Since then, despite all efforts the owner has not been located, and her identity remains a complete mystery. The press has been asked to cooperate in a further effort to discover the whereaboiits of the rightful owner. The machine may be inspected at the Police Station.

Many Lost And Found One of the busiest men at the Labour Day picnic at Linwood Park, Christchurch, was the announcer operating what he described as “the lost and found, agency” over the loud-speakers from the band rotunda. His voice grew noticeably more hoarse during the afternoon as he called the names of children who were separated from their parents, or, in many cases where the children would not, or could not, give their names, described what they -were wearing. One small boy, said the announcer, could not have been lost long, as he was still eating. Another stray, taking his situation seriously, was crying loudly, and the announcer held the child up to the microphone, appealing to anybody who recognised the howls to ■collect the child.
