NEARLY 6,000

ALLOCATED BY EX-SERVICE-MEN

Ex-servicemen, under the scheme which assures them half of the state houses and flats completed or becoming vacant for occupation, were allocated 160 such dwellings during September. This brings the total number of ex-servicemen and women so accommodated to 5950.

Allocations during September are given below with the total allocations to the end of that month following in parentheses. They are for districts of which the towns mentioned are the main centres.

Auckland 49 (1742); Hamilton 12 (451); Napier 3 (258); New Plymouth 8 (169); Wellington 64 (2190); Nelson 0 (112); Christchurch 15 (578); Dunedin 6 (329); and Invercar 3 (121).
