Cars For Disabled Men

Provision of specially adapted cars, with hand controls, for two double-amputees in the Auckland Province was considered by the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council recently. It was decided to contribute one-thircl of the cost in each case, with a limit of £2OO. It was stated that the Rehabilitation Department was contributing one third also. The Returned Services Association had considered one case and agreed to contribute towards the cost of the car but it was unaware of the second case, stated Mr A. P. Postlewaite, president of the Auckland R.S.A., and a member of the Patriotic Council. Second-hand cars, he said, were not suitable for the needs of amputees.
