LIQUOR CONVICTIONS
AFTER-HOUR TRADING CASES
WHAKATANE AND TE TEKO
Before Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Whakatane Magistrate’s November Court sitting Robert Beckett was charged with removing liquor from licensed premises after hours. Sergeant Fai’rell said that defendant was aecosted at 7.45 p.m. leaving the premises of a local hotel with two bottles of • beer.. Fined £2 and costs 12s.
Walter Mason who was likewise charged with assisting some person or persons unknown in the commission of an offence in that he obtained a bottle of beer and refused to disclose its origin was fined £2 and costs 12s.
Eru Davis, a prohibited person who was found in the bar of the Te Teko hotel on October 10, was fined 20s and costs 275.
Another prohibited Maori, Tom Kereti (Mr Otley) who entered the Whakatane hotel on September 13, was fined 20s and costs 255.
