ST. JOHN NEEDS £lßo
FRIDAY next sees the annual street appeal in the interests of the local branch of the St. John Ambulance Association. It would.be impossible to find a worthier cause or to discover a group of men and women who voluntarily give greater service to the community. Following out the basis of the Association, the Whakatane branch by helping itself and by purely voluntary labour has constructed a headquarters hall and demonstration room in King Street, second to none. To wipe off the existing indebtedness on this building the sum of £IBO is- still needed. The public of Whakatane can be depended upon to give freely and liberally on Friday in order to liquidate this debit and to enable the St. John service to operate free of all encumbrances.
