Upon receiving a call feom the Whakatane Paper Mills Fire Brigade to assist in fighting the outbreak oZ fire which occurred in the waste paper store on Thursday,, the Whakatane Volunteer Fire Brigade sent its trailer pump and a team of men,,. Thus, not only was the main engine left in the town, but also sufficient men to cope with any fire which // might have broken out in the Borough whilst the others were away*
