"LOVE IN IDLENESS"
In their comment of the opening night at the Minerva Theatre, Sydney, the "Sydney Morning Herald" of May 25th, 1946, said: "Love In Idleness'' is a capital comedy, splendidly played, and on no account should it be missed by the discriminating theatregoer seeking entertainment in which piquant humour is generously served"; and paid a sincere compliment to Kathleen Robinson, who plays one of the leading parts in New Zealand—"a delightful show, by a real actress." The comedy is Terence Rattigan's "Love In Idleness," the first of a series of shows to be presented by Whitehall Productions (London and Australia) at the Grand Theatre on Wednesday, November 6th for one night only. Box plans at Armstrong's.
Mr. W. S. Goosman's visit. Incorporated in the National Party's campaign in the Bay of Plenty electorate is an address by Mr. W. S. Goosman, M.P. for Waikato, who will speak in the Grand Theatre tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. Mr. Goosman has had a varied but singularly successful career. 0 He commenced work on a dairy farm at the age of 13, later taking a job as a bushman. At the age of 22, he joined his brother in a sharemilking venture and then commenced farming on his own account. During the depression of 1920-21 he took on a cream carting contract with a horse and cart. The contract paid, and he bought a motor truck, adding others until eventually he had one of the biggest cartage 'businesses in New Zealand. He also undertook considerable road contracting. Mr. Goosman, who in. 1943 was elected by a majority of 4,615 votes, is standing for Piako, which embraces a large portion of his former electorate.
