• AMUSEMENTS GRAND THEATRE FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6th Whitehall Productions Ltd. (London and Australia) Present Terence Rattigan's Sparkling Comedy Success "LOVE IN IDLENESS" "LOVE IN IDLENESS" "LOVE IN DDLENESS" Starring' those eminent London artists KATHLEEN ROBINSON and RICHARD PARRY, and strong supporting cast. We won't tell you how good the attraction is. Read what the "Auckland Star" of 15/10/46 says:— Everything that goes to make a successful season marked the opening in His Majesty's Theatre last night of Terence Rattigan's comedy, "Love In Idleness," by Whitehall Productions, of London and Australia. A large audience was moved to enthusiasm as the action disclosed exceptional talent in the leads by which Richard Parry and Kathleen Robinson interpreted the subtley of the author in turning delicate situations into channels of laughter. And further satisfaction came with recognition in the cast of Minnie Love, the well-remembered actress of light opera fame. Mounted with meticulous attention to light and scenic effects, and well produced, with a cast which made the most of the gentle comedy situations, the play appealed strongs ly to patrons as one of the best of its kind seen in recent years. In the role of a Cabinet Minister whose private romance is in danger of conflicting with his political life, Richard Parry gives a portrayal which provides a splendid background for the humorous element and in which he lives up to his London reputation. Kathleen Robinson handles delicate stiuations with a light deftness which enhances the comedy and still preserves the romantic flavour of the story. A young Australian actor, Ron Rousell, made a decidedly good impression in the supporting role of a son who finds difficulty in understanding the love affairs of an older generation in which his mother happens to be involved. Minnie Love, as the maid, received a personal ovation. The comedy flowed smoothly from curtain to curtain, and augured well for the success of the season of 11 nights and two matinees. Prices: 6/-, 4/-, 2/- (plus tax). Box Plans at Armstrong's.
