The number of names on the Bay of Plenty electorate general roll is 12,450. It is. considered that the supplementary roll will contain the names of at least 2000 electors and that many names on the main roll belong to persons not now entitled to vote in this electorate. Galatea Landing Ground Intimation was received from the Public Works Department, Wellington, by the. Whakatane County Council at its last meeting, that the matter of the registration of the aerodrome at Galatea had been referred to the Controller of Civil Aviation, who would advise the Council. New Waitangi Flagmast Two kauri spars which have been seasoning under the historic Norfolk pine near the Treaty House at Waitangi for about a year are to form the new 100 ft. flagmast to be erected on the spot where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840. Deterioration of the lower part of the existing mast has .made replacement necessary, and the Waitangi Trust Board has accepted an offer by the Royal New Zealand Navy to undertake the work and to assume responsibility for maintenance. It is expected that the mast will be erected either by a party from the Devonport naval base or when a warship on the station visits the Bay of Islands.
