With regard to the matter of amalgamation with the Whakatane Agricultural and Pastoral Society, the president outlined the progress made, and advised that the scheme was going ahead very well. The two committees had met on various occasions, and had also met the members of the Domain Board with regard to grounds and had received a very favourable hearing. This matter could not be finalised until a definite tenure had been arranged, but it was well under way. He felt assured that a definite tenure would be made available, . 1947 Winter Show'
The president advised that he felt that a Show must be held in 1947. No doubt there would be numerous obstacles, but they could be. overcome. He felt sure that it,was.possible to handle the function, and make a success of it. He was assured that all the floor space would be utilised, and that the public would show their appreciation by their patronage. The matter of membership, and subscriptions was brought forward by Mr L. R. Spring, who pointed out that by the balance sheet the amount of subscriptions collected was very small according to the number of members on the register. It should, he said, be realised by the members arid the public that the assets of the Association must be kept in order and repair, but this. could not be done without assistance in the matter of subscriptions. Speaking further to the matter of staging a Show in June 1947, the president concluded by expressing the hope that all farmers would re-
spond by exhibiting produce, and that the public would, as in the past, make the event a success by their interest. • \ '•'
