TOP PRICE 60 GUINEAS

Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd., report having conducted a Sale of Pedigree Frisians and Jerseys at the A. and P. Showgrounds, Whakatane. on October 2.

The catalogue comprised an entry of 10 yearling-Pedigree Ayrshire heifers and 33 Pedigree Ayrshire bulls on account of the Bay of Plenty Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Club, 5 Pedigree Friesian bulls' on account of Mr G. J. Murray, Otakiri, and 12 Pedigree Jersey bulls. Top price of the sale was 60gns., for a yearling Ayrshire Bull( Lot 38—Aotea Star Chief on account of Mr A. H. Adams, Whakatane, and purchased by Mr J. A. V. Gulliver, Te Puke. •Aotea Star Chief is a son of Dalemere Star Fame and Abergeldie Cherry Rose who has five consistent herd test records, made on grass alone, no stripping, in her first five lactations. Star Chief is a grandson of Avonsyde Star of Fame, the leading sire of qualified daughters in New Zealand and an undefeated Show Bull.

Mr A. H. Adams was the largest vendor of Ayrshires, which realised satisfactory prices. His line of nine yearling heifers averaged 19 guineas and 7 bulls 29 guineas. The next best price for Ayrshires, 41gns.,' was realised for Lot 27 Millview Felix, offered on account of Mr B. McMahon, Whakatane, and purchased by Mr D. W. Gulliver, Te Puke. Felix is a son of Avonsyde Ring Fame and Millview Flossie—Herd Test records up to 4471bs fat at 4 years. , The best price for Mr Murray’s Friesian Bulls was 30gns. for Lot 12—a 2 year old son of Athol Winston, who has 13 of his 15 nearest dams with records averaging 5561bs fat. ,

In the Jerseys the best price was 40gns./for a-4 year old Green Meadows bred bull offered on account of Mr M. S. Tipping,, Kutarere. Principal sales were:—
