Australian Journal
Some publications featuring Australian fiction prefer the slight, sketchy type of story which can be read in five minutes, but “The Australian Journal” has. always favoured the longer and more meaty magazine yarn—the sort of story into which readers can get their teeth, so to speak, and which will hold their interest for some time. The October issue presents many stories of this kind, varying in style from the dramatic and romantic to the humorous, and not forgetting the everpopular detective story—this time in a West Australian goldfields setting. That Australia offers ample scope to the fiction writer is shown in the wide variety of the stories chosen. In addition to the fiction, there are excellent article on adventures in the Gulf Country, by K. D. Young, and tiger shooting in Malaya by Arthur J. King. At sixpence there is nothing better on sale.
