“Monty’s” Battledress
One reason advanced why New Zealand battledress is likely to be sought by the British Army is that it was very popular with FieldMarshal Lord Montgomery. A top senior officer who was in charge of administration in the Middle East stated that he had equipped “Monty” with New Zealand clothing from “his skin to the outer.” And,, the officer added, “Monty” had a clothing card, the same as every New Zealand soldier.
