LEARN-TO-ROW WEEK

A GOOD RESPONSE There has been a good response to the learn-to-row week which commenced on Monday, and was held under the sponsorship of the Whakatane Rowing Club. Four boats have been on the river every evening, and prospective rowers have been included in the crews in each case.

The interest of younger boys in the sport is indicated by the fact that several High School boys are numbered amongst those receiving instruction. Later, it is understood, further school boys will also receive instruction under the guidance of one of the masters. Not only will this ensure a reserve of club members for future years, but it will create yet" further interest in a sport which now holds a prominent position in local outdoor activities.
