FLY AND VERMIN MENACE

WITH the warmer weather approaching, the question of the control of flies and vermin within the Borough again assumes important proportions. In the past we have been listed unfavourably with regard to both flies and rats, and in spite of concerted efforts to combat both, it has to be admitted that even the most strenuous efforts have only met with partial success. It is useless for the Borough Council to appeal to householders to exercise individual control when the town’s No. 1 breeding-place (the rubbish dump) remains in its present state. May we respectfully suggest that during the forthcoming summer, the whole of the dump area be sprayed with waste oil as a precaution. The cost would be practically nil and the result can only be highly beneficial as far as all insect vermin are concerned.
