WHAKATANE CLUB MEETS EGYPTIAN COLLECTION EXHIBITED The October meeting of the Whakatane Philatelic Society took place in the Borough Council Chambers last Wednesday evening, Mr H. O. Garaway being in the chair. The attendance was fair, and a very interesting -evening eventuated. The exhibition of a collection of Egyptian stamps attracted considerable attention. This collection was almost complete and comprised the old issues when Egypt was under Turkish control, through the period when the country was constituted a kingdom under King Faud and later under his son the reigning monarch King Farouk. The competition which was limited to New Zealand stamps was won by Warren Kirk.
