CRICKET
ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE MEETS A number of matters pertaining to the forthcoming cricket season were discussed at a recent meeting of the Management Committee of the Whakatane Cricket Association. It was decided that the draw should be left till the next meeting on October 14, all entries for the competition to be in by that date. An endeavour should be made, it was resolved, to prepare grounds 1 and 2 for the opening day on October 20, whilst a levy of £5 should be made on all teams using the Domain as their home ground, the money to be used solely for the purpose of keeping the-grounds in order, and effecting improvements. The President, Mr N. E. Rigden and Mr F. Cameron were appointed as delegates to the Bay of Plenty Association, whilst the latter named and Mr J. D. Rivett were elected as delegates from the Cricket Association to the Whakatane Borough Council meeting to be held on October 10 concerning the proposed war memorial. It was intimated that a full attendance of all delegates was required' on October 14 for the purpose of bringing out the draw.
