ALLOCATIONS MADE TO EX-SERVICEMEN

Until the end of August 5790 exservicemen and women had been assisted to obtain tenancies of State rental houses and flats under the 50 per cent allocation system, states the Rehabilitation Department. Of these, 198 were allocated during August itself.

Allocations for August and total allocations until the end of the month (shown in parentheses) are as follows, the figures quoted being for the districts of which the towns mentioned are the centres: Auckland 86 (1693); Hamilton 8 (439); Napier 12 (255), New Plymouth 4 ((161), Wellington 54 (2126), Nelson 2 (112), Christchurch 22 (563), Dunedin 7 (323), Invercargill 3 (118), totals 198 (5790).
