TANEATUA POUND

EXTENSION DISCUSSED At the last meeting of the Whakatane County Council, the question of the extension cf the Taneatua Pound was brought forward. Cr A. McGougan reported that Mr Reeves, who occupied the cemetery property opposite the pound, and was the owner of the farm area surrounding the cemetery did not wish to abandon his lease or dispose of any portion of his property. The area opposite the pound was approximately 9 acres, and a fair amount of work had been put into it. Cr H. C. McCready saw no reason why Mr Reeves should not part with a little of his land. The pound was, at present, an absolute disgrace, and it was not fit to hold stock. In his opinion a section on the other side of the road should be procured, and action should be taken immediately. It was decided that Crs McGougan and McCready should meet Mr Reeves and discuss the matter with him.
