BRITAIN TODAY
THERE was a slogan much heard during the first Great War, which began “Are we down-hearted?” and ended with the response in chorus, “No.” Some friends abroad were defeatist about our prospects in the critical period of Dunkirk. They were wrong. And they will be wrong again if they take the defeatist view and think that we are going to be “beaten by economics.” This time there is no excuse for doubting that Britain can weather the storm, for she is weathering it. The waves are high, but she is coming through them. —From “Britain Today.”
