VEHICLE IMPORTS

INCREASE GRANTED Motor vehicle importers stated that they had been advised of an all-round increase in the value of vehicle licenses for 1947 affecting Britain, Canada and the United States. The existing basis had been increased by the addition of 50 per cent, of the value of the imports in 1938. The effect would be that between 13,000 and 14,000 United Kingdom cars, and 4000 Canadian and United States cars would be imported in 1947. If available, more than 3000 commercial vehicles will also be imported.

These figures represented 10,000 fewer cars than were imported in 1938 and. 1308 fewer commercial vehicles.
